Hasankeyf is Falling Apart
Due to the fact that Hasankeyf is designated a protected site in Turkey, it is illegal to move anything, even if it is rock that falls down from the castle. Ironically, while there are rules supposedly to protect it, it seems it is ok to flood the entire place out of existence!

Good News / Bad News
"Life in Limbo" will be part of TAC's (The Archaeology Channel) traveling festival which will take place in various locations in Oregon from August to February. For more information, check out http://www.archaeologychannel.org
I read a recent article in which a new proposal was put forth to make five smaller dams instead of the one huge dam, in order to save Hasankeyf and the area around it. Unfortunately, it does not sound like the solution. http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/n.php?n=can-the-hasankeyf-and-the-tigris-valley-be-saved-2010-06-28
In other news around the area, two villages around Hasankeyf were set on fire by the Turkish military according to news reports.
"Life in Limbo" played The Archaeological Channel's International Film and Video Festival in Eugene, Oregon last week. It received four honorable mentions: Honorable mention in Best Film competition by jury Honorable mention for Cinematography by jury Honorable mention for Music by jury Honorable mention in Audience Favorite competition
